Festival "Carp Streamer"

These huge carp streamers are flying over the Zempukuji river in Suginami ward, Tokyo. May 5 is Children's Day, but actually is Boys Festival, where people who have boys at home put carp streamers on a pole hanging from their home. The carp in his attempt to swim/jump up the falls changes into a powerful dragon, so the story goes, and parents hope their boys will become strong like these fabled carp.
